This Privacy Policy explains how Thailand Golf Index ("we", "us", "our") collects, uses, shares and protects information when you use the Thailand Golf Index mobile app for Android and iOS (the "App") and the website thailandgolfindex.com. The App is operated by David Hantke, based in Australia.
By using the App you agree to the practices described here. If you do not agree, please do not use the App.
1. Information we collect
Information you give us
- Account information: your name, email address and password (stored only in encrypted/hashed form) when you create an account, or the basic profile details shared by Apple or Google if you choose to sign in with them.
- Golf information: scores, rounds, courses played, handicap or index details, and any notes or preferences you enter.
- Communications: messages you send us, such as support requests or feedback.
Information collected automatically
- Device and usage information: device type, operating system version, app version, language, crash reports and general information about how features are used. This helps us fix problems and improve the App.
- Location (optional): if you allow it, the App may use your device's location while the App is in use, for example to show nearby golf courses. You can turn location access off at any time in your device settings, and the App will still work without it.
Purchases and subscriptions
The App is free to download and offers optional paid subscriptions. Payments are processed entirely by Google Play or the Apple App Store. We do not receive or store your card or payment details. We receive only the information needed to confirm your subscription, such as the product purchased, a transaction identifier, and whether the subscription is active.
2. How we use your information
- To create and manage your account and let you sign in.
- To provide the App's features, such as recording scores and calculating your golf index.
- To provide and verify paid subscriptions.
- To show content relevant to your location, if you allow location access.
- To respond to your questions and provide support.
- To monitor performance, diagnose crashes and improve the App.
- To keep the App secure and prevent fraud or misuse.
- To comply with our legal obligations.
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use it for third-party targeted advertising.
3. How we share information
We share information only in the following cases:
- Service providers: trusted companies that help us run the App, such as cloud hosting and database providers, authentication services, and crash reporting or analytics tools. They may process data only on our instructions and must protect it.
- App stores: Google and Apple, to process purchases and manage subscriptions under their own privacy policies.
- Other users: only where a feature is clearly designed for sharing, such as leaderboards, and only the information that feature displays.
- Legal reasons: where required by law, or to protect the rights, safety or property of our users, us or others.
- Business transfers: if the App is sold or transferred, user information may be transferred to the new owner, who will be bound by this policy.
4. Where your information is stored
Your information may be stored and processed in Australia, Thailand, the United States or other countries where our service providers operate. Where information is transferred internationally, we take reasonable steps to ensure it is protected in line with this policy and applicable law.
5. How long we keep information
We keep your information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the App. When you delete your account, we delete or anonymise your personal information within 30 days, except where we must keep certain records (for example, transaction records) to meet legal, tax or accounting obligations.
6. Deleting your account and data
You can delete your account and associated data at any time:
- In the App, go to your account or settings screen and choose Delete account; or
- Email us at info@thailandgolfindex.com from the email address linked to your account, with the subject "Delete my account".
Deleting your account does not cancel an active subscription. Please cancel subscriptions in Google Play or your Apple ID settings.
7. Security
We use reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect your information, including encryption in transit (HTTPS) and access controls. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.
8. Your rights and choices
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, delete or obtain a copy of your personal information, to object to or restrict certain processing, and to withdraw consent. These rights may arise under laws such as the Australian Privacy Act 1988, Thailand's Personal Data Protection Act, the EU/UK GDPR, and US state privacy laws. To make a request, contact us using the details below. We will respond within the time required by law. You may also complain to your local privacy regulator, such as the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (oaic.gov.au).
You can also control permissions such as location and notifications in your device settings at any time.
9. Children
The App is not directed to children under 13 (or the minimum age required in your country), and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has given us personal information, please contact us and we will delete it.
10. Third-party links and services
The App may link to golf course websites or other third-party services. We are not responsible for their privacy practices, and we encourage you to read their privacy policies.
11. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will post the updated version on this page with a new effective date and, for significant changes, notify you in the App.
